YouTube, a platform that was created in 2005 has touched the life of millions of people . Among them was me. I began using YouTube when I was in sixth grade, but never truly fell in love for it until my freshman year of high school. Looking back, I suddenly realized how big of a role YouTube played in my life and how much it has shaped me into who I am today. I am here to share with you on how I utilize YouTube in my daily life!

Daily Dose of Happiness

To be honest, I do not know exactly what my life would be like without YouTube. One thing I know for sure though is that my life would be a lot less smiles and a lot more stress. When I am feeling down, David Dobrik, PewDiePie, Ellen DeGeneres, and many others never fail to bring smile to my face. Their vibe, their creativity, and their contents somehow have the ability to always turn a sad face upside down. YouTube is essential for me especially in college, when I often found myself overwhelmed with noises and expectations. It has become this tool in my life that I use to obtain my daily dose of happiness.

Invisible Chef

I got the opportunity to live by myself for the whole year in my senior year of high school because of family business and other complications that my parents had to go out of country. Everything was great, so much freedom and all, until my stomach started screaming for food. I was a boy growing up eating Mama's food every single day. Suddenly, standing in front of the stove cluelessly with a pot in one hand gave me a panic attack. YouTube came in so clutch. I began watching Gordon Ramsey's videos and other chef's videos on how to cook the perfect steak or how to cook the perfect pasta. After some weeks of experimenting and trials and errors, hunger is no longer an issue and my stomach is always satisfied. Of course, I began taking pictures of the food I made and send them to my parents. I have to say they were definitely impressed yet confused simultaneously. Learning how to cook is probably one of my greatest achievements from watching YouTube.

Personal Tutor

Falling asleep and zoning out in classes sound just like me. To tell the truth, it feels nice to fall asleep in class (if you don't get caught). The naps I take in class are often the greatest. I would always wake up from them feeling more energized than ever. The down side however, is the amount of information I would miss. No worries though, YouTube is like my private tutor. All the Crash Course and Khan Academy videos keep me up to pace with the teachers. There are so many other YouTube channels out there with the intention to further people's education. From my experience, I have to say YouTube did play an integral part in my high school education. Without it I probably would not have aced my AP tests and my SAT score score would probably be a lot worse than it already is.

Disclaimer: I am not trying to encourage you guys to sleep in class, but rather, suggesting that YouTube is a great source of education for anyone to use for free to clarify concepts. Always pay attention in class, and use YouTube as an additional resource to further your understanding.

The cool thing about YouTube is that everyone can contribute to this enormous pool of video contents. One can simply upload videos with just a few clicks and a stable internet connection. I am still yet to post a video on my YouTube channel, but stay tune, I will get there and y'all better like and subscribe!
