Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing this letter in regards to an internship position at your company. When I read
your research mission, I knew instantly that this is the opportunity that I will be grateful to be a
part of. Finding the answer to improving health while increasing lifespan has been one of the
greatest biological mysteries of the century. However, through years of research from scientists
and biohackers around the world such as Dave Asprey, I believe we are on the verge of a major
breakthrough. The day we understand the biology that controls lifespan will be the day that
changes the lives of countless people and revolutionizes the world into a healthier place.

From my past experiences, I believe I can be a great asset to your team. As a highly
motivated and detail-oriented student, I was fortunate to acquire some research experience in
the past at Lawrence Livermore National Lab. This experience in a professional lab setting
taught me how to run gel electrophoresis, use PCR and centrifuge, conduct bioinformatics,
analyze genetic sequences through various applications, and most importantly, team
collaboration. I believe there is so much more I can learn from working alongside similar
minded peers and becoming a part of this fantastic team here.

My passion for this field of science kindled when I was in middle school learning about
life sciences. “Our human body is host to trillions of bacteria” was the statement that caught my
attention. As a twelve-year-old boy, it was already difficult enough to visualize a number as
large as a trillion, let alone grasping the idea of having this amount of microorganisms living
inside my body. That was when I began to spend countless hours on the web exploring the
realm of molecular science and began to learn of the interesting things that Asprey did to
improve his own health. It was after high school, and after my invaluable experience interning
at a national laboratory, that I had cemented my love for biology, and understood the potential
biology has for improving the lives of many people around the world.

As I began my college career as a first-year undergraduate majoring in Biology at UCLA,
I am determined to continue my passion in cellular research and expand my experiences in
laboratory skills. I believe this opportunity aligns flawlessly with my love for science and
my desire to improve health around the world. I feel so lucky an internship like this exists. I
would love to have a chance to contribute to your mission and be a part of something great.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration. I hope to hear back from you.

Sincerely,

John Smith
